I've added my "tribe handle" to my profile and it just doesn't show up.
I've sucessfully used Exodus with people on my friends list, I just thought that was odd since I've seen it show up on other people who are not on my friends list. -

I rent from a Network Administrator that is an asshole or too stupid to know how to open a port up in a router. I think (I hope) the former is right not the latter. (BTW I am taking about Gaim and I have Windows XP PRP SP-2)
It wants 5662. I tried other ports we have open and I still can't connect. i also don't know what to put for server. Can someone PLEASE help me, as no one answered my other post I started.

Plus I think it's harder if you're not in my network too...
Oh well..They really should have some sort of internal IM or chat...the external thing..just um..not so great...
I think only one person in my network uses it and she has 400 friends in it anyways...so we're not that close!!. :)

Instant Message is the name of a service - but has prolly become a generic term for messaging.
the tribes server is a jabber server - which prolly doesn't mean much to you -
any number of clients will connect with a jabber server.
i use exodus and connect to the tribes server
to chat with me you need to start a conversation with barsnake@maitai.tribes.net

Thu, June 30, 2005 - 4:05 PMSo is it me or did like everyone on tribe just "get" a screen name? I seem to have everyone from my friend list pop up in my jabber chatty thingy. Yet no one is online. So does this mean that just everyone has a name but no client? How are you supposed to know if they have Jabber as well now? And then last thing, for all of ya'll that are not on my jabber list can I just add tribechat names and start talking to people? -

Thu, June 30, 2005 - 4:29 PMit looks like with the roll out of the new profiles - everybody that has a tribe screen name is now visible to friends...
i have the same problem - almost all my friends show up in jabber client - but they are never on...they like yahoo - or irc.
you can chat with anybody by connecting to their tribename as i posted below
